Our Review of Lost Key in Perdido Key FL
Vacation in Perdido Key, Florida
My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at a town home in Lost Key in Perdido Key, FL. It was an incredible experience and we can’t wait to go back. From the moment I arrived, I was struck by the stunning beauty of the gated community and the immaculately maintained grounds. The entire community sits within a wildlife sanctuary. The view from the screened porch on our home looked out over a marshy forest and the highlight every day was the chance to see the two American Bald Eagles that lived here.
The golf course at Lost Key is simply breathtaking. The 18-hole Arnold Palmer-designed course is a true gem, with well-manicured fairways and greens that are a joy to play. The pro shop is fully stocked with all the gear you need for a great round, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Lost Key was the first golf course in the State of Florida to be certified as an Audubon International Silver Signature Sanctuary. The project continues to protect the natural resources of the area while providing an outstanding golf experience.
Lost Key Golf and Beach Club
But the real highlight of Lost Key for me was the beach club. The Lost Key Beach Club sits overlooking the soft white sandy beach the area is known for. The warm gulf waters were the perfect backdrop for a relaxing day in the sun. The private beach club offers everything you need, from umbrellas and chairs to make your day simply marvelous. The beach club offers a great menu and a full bar. We had some wonderful blackend shrimp tacos for lunch and stayed around for a late afternoon snack of chips, salsa and guacamole. A visit to this part of the gulf coast is not complete without trying the local favorite frozen drink – the Bushwacker. Each bar makes them a little differently and the Lost Key Beach Club offers a Bushwacker that tastes a lot like a chocolate dessert. It’s also available alcohol free, as are the frozen daiquiris.
One of the things my family loved the most was the complimentary beach shuttle. Instead of having to drive around to the various places, we could call a number and the shuttle would pick us up at our door and take us to the beach or the golf course. Talk about service!
The Beach Buzz!
The highpoint of our trip happened on Sunday afternoon when the Navy’s Blue Angels flight demonstration team returned to Pensacola from an out of town airshow. It lasted only seconds, but it created a memory that my kids will have forever. Everyone on the beach and in the beach club started looking to the sky to see the familiar smoke trail as the Blue Angels did their famous “Beach Buzz” on their return home. It was an absolutely phenomenal experience.
Lost Key offers a variety of amenities to make your trip relaxing. The fitness center is top-notch, with state-of-the-art equipment. The resort has two swimming pools, one beachside at the Beach Club and another resort style pool that is co-located with the fitness center. Both are easily accessible from any of the town homes in the resort. The pools are a great place to cool off after a day on the links or at the beach.
Overall, my experience at Lost Key Golf and Beach Club was truly exceptional. The community is beautiful, the amenities are top-notch, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Lost Key to anyone looking for a golf and beach vacation that’s truly unforgettable. Vacation homes can be booked direct from the owner by visiting www.lostkeybeachclub.com .
